Data & Logging Policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
Overview
This page explains what data the Haulora desktop tracker collects while you drive and what the website logs when you use it, separate from the browser cookies covered in our Cookie Policy and the account data covered in our Privacy Policy.
What the tracker is
The tracker is an optional desktop plugin that connects to Haulora's tracker service while your trucking simulation game is running. Like most game plugins, it must be installed while the game is closed, and it reports telemetry for as long as it stays installed and the game is running - closing the game only pauses telemetry for that session, since the plugin is still there and will resume reporting the next time you launch the game.
What data is collected
While connected, the tracker reports:
- Your Steam ID, used to resolve and confirm which Haulora account the session belongs to
- Your in-game position, heading, and scale
- Your speed and an odometer of real and in-game distance travelled
- Job and haul telemetry, such as cargo, trailer, and route information
- The game and plugin version you're running
- The DLCs installed in your game that your Steam account owns
- The mods active in your loaded game profile (name, version, Steam Workshop item, load order) and an identifier of that profile
- Some of your game settings that affect driving (such as police, fatigue, fuel simulation, and truck and trailer stability) and your game language
- Whether you play on a TruckersMP server and which one, and which map you use (for example ProMods)
DLCs, mods, and settings are read from the running game; the plugin does not open or upload your mod files or profile files.
Error reports
When the plugin runs into a problem of its own during a game session (for example a job that couldn't be created, or a crash in the plugin's code), it sends one error report to Haulora so the problem can be looked into without asking you for files. Errors of the game itself or of other mods never cause a report. A report is sent when you close the game or, after a crash, the next time you start it, and contains:
- Your Steam ID, the game, and the plugin version
- A short description of the error
- The game's log file (
game.log.txt) for that session only, and only if it is smaller than 10 MB - The plugin's own log for that session
- After a crash, the game's crash file (
game.crash.txt) - The IP address the report was sent from
The game's log can include your Windows user name (as part of folder paths), your profile name, and the mods and game plugins you have loaded. At most one report is sent per game session, and the same error is reported only once per plugin version. Reports can only be seen by Haulora staff, are used only to fix problems, and are deleted automatically after 30 days. You can turn error reports off at any time in the plugin with Haulora → Settings → Send error reports.
Website request logs
When you use the Haulora website, our servers write one line to a technical log for each page request. A line contains:
- The date and time of the request
- The page address, without any search or filter terms
- The result (for example "OK" or "not found"), the size of the response, and how long it took
- Your Haulora account ID, if you are signed in
- A shortened IP address: the last part is removed (everything after the first three blocks of an IPv4 address, or the first three groups of an IPv6 address), so it points to a network rather than to you
- A random request ID, which is also shown on our error page so a problem you report can be found
Images, stylesheets, and other static files are not logged, and neither is your browser or device. These logs are used only to keep the site secure (for example to spot abuse) and to find and fix problems. They can only be seen by Haulora staff and are deleted automatically after 14 days.
What is not collected
The tracker does not collect chat logs, data from other applications on your computer, personal files, webcam or microphone input, or any payment information. Apart from error reports (see above), the tracker does not send your game's log files.
How the data is used
This data powers features like the live map, dashboard haul history, company statistics, and leaderboards, and helps us keep the platform fair by flagging implausible telemetry. Mods, game settings, and the map are recorded with each haul so it can be judged fairly (for example in rankings and reviews), and your DLCs are used for your profile and for DLC-related achievements.
How the data is stored
Your live position and status are held in short-lived storage and cleared as soon as you disconnect. Completed haul and job records are kept longer as part of your haul history and statistics, in line with our Privacy Policy's retention terms.
Who can see it
Your live position is visible to members of your company on the company livemap. Aggregate statistics may appear on public leaderboards; individual haul details (including the mods and game settings recorded with a haul) are visible only to you and, where applicable, your company. The DLCs you own are listed on your profile, which other signed-in members can view.
Your controls
Closing the game for the day stops that session's telemetry, but doesn't remove the plugin - it will start reporting again the next time you launch the game. To stop the tracker for good, fully uninstall the plugin while the game is shut down (the same as installing it, it can't be added or removed while the game is running). Error reports can be turned off separately in the plugin's settings (see above). You can also reset your statistics or permanently delete your account and its data from Settings → Danger Zone.
Legal basis & your rights
We process tracker data and website logs on the same legal basis, and subject to the same rights, described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
